There are absolutely issues with people not believing male abuse victims.

At the same time, you do have to remember that this was not a trial about whether or not she abused him. The uncertainty about the verdict seems to have been mostly about how difficult it can be to prove defamation, since it usually requires intent and demonstrable damages.
