Evidently they believe that no one likes or cares about the percy jackson series anymore, and think that Riordan is creating or facilitating the racist hubbub about the actress himself? To get attention for the supposedly un-cared-about series? That's what I got out of it, but I'm not a conspiracy theorist, so I may not be accurately understanding this person's Hot Take

I mean, Riordan is a bit of a tool but I think you're giving him too much credit here. Racists don't need a reason to racist other than a non-white casting.

It seemed to me that the attacks were entirely genuine and came from two groups: 1) racist non-fans who would attack any person of colour if they had the chance and 2) racist PJO fans who were thrilled to get to combine their interests. Not manufactured in the slightest.

The second part is obviously bullshit, but so is the first part. It’s obvious you haven’t been anywhere near the fandom to think it’s dead. It wasn’t anywhere near dying before this either.
