My friends finally convinced me to watch RuPaul's Drag Race. And I love the looks, especially now that they've been showing a greater variety of drag.

But why does it have to be so damn catty?

I know I'm thin-skinned and a bit naive, but I was hoping for a celebration of mutually-supportive queer performers...not mean girls in drag.

...So THAT'S who they were.

I saw people cosplaying them hanging around the fringes of the Final Fantasy photoshoot at ACen, and at the time I was dressed as Sephiroth specifically to hang out with a friend I basically bonded with a few years back because she's a huge Sephiroth fan. And like, she doesn't really do the cosplay thing, but last year she brought a black cloak so she could be a low-effort Sephiroth clone, hahah.

So anyway, I spotted the folks in the art here, and I turned to my friend and was like "...Are those people over there supposed to be Sephiroth clones? Silver hair, black cloaks..." And she was like "...It does really sort of look like Sephiroth clones... but I dunno..." and the shoot was so huge we couldn't track them down afterwards to find out. I really was wondering what was up with them.

...So basically, thanks for telling me who these folks actually are. :D
