OP
(Anonymous) 2022-06-04 02:05 am (UTC)(link)It was also my first exposure to RPF, and one of the first FICS I read, so you can imagine my early teenage confusion.
Whenever I have read RPF, usually actors, I tend to see it as a character, not the actual person (personally, it would be weird and I really don't know what Actor A is really like as a person). So if I'm reading a Jake Gyllenhaal fic, I never read it as this is actually Jake, I read it more as "this is an OC with the likeness and name of JG"..apply to any RPF..but I'm sure others may read it differently.
Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2022-06-04 02:19 am (UTC)(link)And yeah, I'm trying to remember that most RPF readers and writers probably fully understand that the RPF version doesn't reflect the actual person -- there are just some very vocal/visible tin-hatters who seem to believe in secret slash theories. So I'm working on not judging all RPF fans by that minority.
