I didn't see her as being left out in the cold so much as she just couldn't keep up. She was out of her depth to begin with, and his first love was always the storms. So she just... Left. I mean, that IS satisfying to me. She realized she couldn't compete with literal tornados so she decided to cut it off before she got hurt--which she'd almost died a FEW times by then.
