Sure! I use the Calibre Plugin "FanFicFare" and in the plugin configuration tab "personal.ini" I use this syntax for ff.net and AO3.

exclude_notes:authorheadnotes,chaptersummary,chapterheadnotes,chapterfootnotes,authorfootnotes

[archiveofourown.org]
exclude_notes:authorheadnotes,chaptersummary,chapterheadnotes,chapterfootnotes,authorfootnotes

I have a lot of other settings, send me a private message with your email address and I can send you the safe to share version of my personal.ini settings.

What I like about the exclude notes is that it gives the download flexibility as to what type of notes you want to exclude. I tend to just strip out everything but you can pick and choose which notes you'd like to keep or exclude. If you'd like to keep the author's head notes and foot notes you can just remove those two options from the exclusion line I shared.
