I'm splitting the difference here and don't care. I generally don't mind author's notes. However, I find the notion of "just scroll by" to be unhelpful. Even if you scroll past something, you can still see it and have the idea/statement get stuck in your head. It's how memes become contagious, and this kind of virality has made my media analysis work really complicated. It's also become a recurring theme in my counseling sessions because I get so damn frustrated with how "just scroll by" discourages nuance/encourages willful ignorance.
