I think you're being pedantic here. I frequently get annoyed when fans try to diminish ships with sexual language (like saying "they're fucking" instead of "they're a couple" in a derogatory way in order to show they dislike the couple and think it's bad) but this just seems like AYRT made a careless word choice and it's not that deep.

"Pedantic" is the wrong word. It's more like I had a brief visceral emotional reaction to the kind of language that was pushed on me as a queer kid raised in the Bible Belt.
