Aw, sorry. Can't you do that to any of your older OTPs? Rekindle the love? My lullaby-ship for the past months has been one from a series I haven't revisited in over a decade except for fanfics. Whatever works!

OMG, I do this too!

I'm not sure of you're a writer of any sorts, but I find it works really well for me with original pairings of pairings in fanfic I'm invested in. And, yeah, I can revisit old ones.

I do this, along with making up elaborate multi-fandom crossovers where I'm a character. Only way I can get to sleep really is to put my mind on a story and relax myself into sleep.

write yourself some in-head gen stories, then. adventures, fresh takes on canon, new mysteries, whatever floats your boat. I've found that when I'm between pairings or just flat out not interested in fluff or smut visions, gen ideas scratch the same itch and get me to sleep just as quickly.

also, given me some good actual fic ideas!

I repeat what others are saying, can't you just go back to an older OTP? I've never really lost the love for any of mine, only just put them on the back burner when a new fave came along. Sometimes going back to an old love from 10 years ago is absolute magic.

I really don't care about the met gala, but honestly? I think that makes me think more of them. I always HATED dress-up parties and parties with dress codes. On top of that, actors already dress like their character half of the time...so really, good for them for wearing what they like more.

Met Gala is cosplay for famous people who are too good for cosplay, change my mind.

I knew almost nothing about the phenomenon except looking at past years' photos in Best Of compilations until this year, so I feel like it's approaching a point where everyone who is invited/plans to attend is going to very soon be unable to excuse themselves from not knowing that it's cosplay for famous people. In past years, I'd excuse the dudes in a tux because they come off as the same people as the generic nerds at an anime convention - they know cosplay exists, they like looking at the cosplay, but there's not there to cosplay. And that's okay in nerd spaces. But the Met Gala being a celeb event feels like the nerds in their greasy Star Wars t-shirts are posing for the paparazzi (and being deliberately photographed BY said paparazzi) as if they're just as photo-worthy as the cosplayers. That's probably where the disconnect comes from. And that's not likely to change unless the Met Gala itself lays down some red carpet rules, or the celebrity blogosphere collectively stops publishing photos of dudes in tuxes who didn't even try.

In other words, don't hold your breath and cut yourself some slack, OP. But direct the "ugh" feelings where it belongs - on celebrity culture not understanding the assignment and sticking with the status quo, and on the Met Gala cosplay not understanding how cosplay is supposed to work, culturally speaking.

Star Wars will always be my first fandom love, but the fandom is SCARY on many levels.
Even disregarding the fact that incest fic is really normalized there, they are now literally bullying the child actress who plays Leia. As in a literal 10-year old.

I think people might seem to be sticking up for Ingram more because it's a) a series, so more meta and analysis during the run and not one-time like with a movie and b) the character is more kickass nd less bland (but potentially also more divisive).

Anyway, yes. I really have to curate my interaction with SW fandom, lest I start hating it.
