It particularly bugs me when the celebs who work with designers for the gala STILL wander so far off theme. You would think the designers would be ALL OVER the opportunity to create something that fits with the theme but also is really cool and looks flattering on the wearer. I guess it might be a matter of a) designer just wants to dress the celebrity in whatever they want to show off, regardless if it works with the theme, or b) the celebrity exercises most of the control and rejects anything they're presented with that's on-theme (and we all know they can make questionable fashion choices even when there's no theme). There's also the "I just don't want to make a big deal about this" attitude which I would applaud if this was The People's Choice Awards, But...
