(Anonymous) 2022-06-12 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)To me, as I see it, a lesbian ship has two people who identify as women regardless of presentation.
REGARDLESS of gender presentation or on what level they identify as women or anything.
A trans male does not identify as a woman, thus, it's not a lesbian ship to me. I did say I wasn't going into the merit of NB because that was far beyond the point, it was just a "nice to know Naoko Takeuchi did not shy away at least" thing. FOR ENTIRELY PERSONAL REASONS. And IF (hypothetical) you got annoyed as a NB lesbian at that ... go ahead? That's on you. But stop saying I said things I never said.
OP again
(Anonymous) 2022-06-12 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)It's because we are talking about a work with maybe 50+ canon straight couples/flings/etc. , 2 to 8 gay ones depending on how you see it, and ALL (the entirety) of them has one character who presents masculine and another who presents feminine. HaruMichi is one, KunZoi is another, even Fisheye and the victim of the day, (Usagi and Minako's one-sided fling on Haruka while they thought she was male etc.) and if it's not like that, then it's anything - ANYTHING, ANYTHING! - BUT a canon fling/ship/whatever (even Seiya/Usagi if you want to talk about it, since the manga, where Seiya doesn't present masculine, "automatically" has NO Seiya/Usagi).
Personally I didn't feel represented as a kid by it and still don't, and perhaps this IS why I like Michiru since she is the ONE Stereotypically Feminine character in Sailor Moon who is into (at least one) girl(s). It's a PERSONAL matter of representation. It has FUCKING NOTHING to do to how I feel about REAL people for God's sake. I was trying to talk about CHARACTERS and people jumped to conclusions.
OP yet again
(Anonymous) 2022-06-12 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)It was really such a minor personal point. And I liked to know that Takeuchi did not shy away from saying "uhh no they ARE lesbians" recently to a Western audience, because of how Western people talk about gender some people had the trans male Haruka headcanon and I could see why. She could have given the Shrug of God but she did not. So it was also a minor point to be ":)" about. That was it.
But apparently some of you hate polite feminine presenting people anyway, since we are all uwu babygirls - what was it again, fuckwad?
