I was thinking I didn't have one because I don't tend to actually hate ships, at most I might find a ship annoying or kinda dumb(in my personal opinion), but I'm watching Stranger Things atm and my god I'd forgotten how much I hate Mike/Eleven or Mike/anyone for that matter because I can't stand him and don't want him to be happy. So there's my petty, irrational dislike.

I dunno if I'm meant to find them cute or whatever but I have literally never cared if they stay/end up together or what have you and the more the show tries to make me care the more I hate them, and Mike in general.

It feels like a situation where these were the main characters in Season 1, and therefore they must be the most important characters that you care about the most for all subsequent seasons.

When the reality is that hasn't been the case at all. That stopped being the case as early as season 2. Season 1 was about the Wheelers and Byers, and they were clearly absolutely central to the show as originally conceived. But the reason the show has been good the last couple years is primarily because of other characters and other parts of the show that they've either expanded or added on later. The Wheelers and Byers are just kind of boring and obvious and straightforward.
