Honestly I feel the same way (also 30). Just about every show someone has recommended has just felt un-enjoyable, despite usually completing at least one series just to try and give it a go. So aside from youtube, I mostly watch cartoons/anime too.

I'm no Margo, but I'd have divorced Tom day one of his self sufficiency idiocy and taken the house in lieu of alimony. Let him go be self sufficient on his own in a council flat. I'm pretty certain all the livestock he bought violated planning laws too.

I watched that scene and... I can relate. It seems like such a small thing out of context and I've got my own emotional baggage but husbands who say they'll X and then fail to do it piss me off. Especially when it backfires on the wife and then the husband dismisses them by saying it's not a big deal.

I think it's just a US/UK humor divide I'm afraid OP. What's appealing about UK shows is impossible to recreate in the US, and I suspect vice versa. The notable exception being Whose Line Is It Anyway, although I believe a lot of the British production crew were brought over, so maybe that was part of what made it work. Or maybe it was just the chemistry between everyone.
