THIS.

I'm all for relationships evolving to become healthy-- one of my big ships didn't start out healthy, both characters had to fix their own personal damages before they could come together and have something based in respect and honesty after their own respective lifetimes of thinking love meant bottling up/hiding problems and sacrificing your own happiness so someone else could be happier without you rather than sitting down and talking to a person who might actually choose you...

BUT, I was sold on this ship as one between two damaged people on a journey towards being better, together AND separately, I was told ahead of time about their most potentially triggering moments, and as those weren't my triggers, I dove right in. It's SUPER different to be told about the happy later relationship only to be blindsided by stuff that is potentially highly triggering. And some of this stuff is HIGHLY triggering! For those of us who aren't triggered, the journey to a healthy relationship from a messed-up beginning can be so satisfying, and a lot more interesting to a LOT of readers than a story where everything is sweet and fluffy and sanitized. But it can be a huge turnoff if you don't know that's the story you're getting. Even if those things don't trigger you, if you go into a story in the mood for one thing, and have to get through something very different to get there, you can't be blamed for putting it down and never picking it up again, and some people will avoid a good author entirely because they had the wrong introduction to that author's works.
