I didn't mind not having the time off. I was actually thankful that my job continued uninterrupted but could still be pretty safe from covid while doing it. But, I was pretty annoyed with all the people claiming they had so much free time now and were bored. A lot of those people were still working, so I was like WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE THAT KEPT YOU SO BUSY OUTSIDE OF WORK? Like, were you ALWAYS going out or something? I call bullshit on that because I'm always hearing about how much people are binging streaming shows so I don't believe most people were idle.

Of course, now we know that parents (mostly moms) with young kids did NOT have more free time when schools/daycare were closed, playdates and extracurricular were cancelled, playgrounds were off-limits, and babysitters weren't allowed.

"But, I was pretty annoyed with all the people claiming they had so much free time now and were bored."

See, for me, I like stuff like binging streaming shows! It's fun when it's something I make plans for and get excited about, like if I plan to spend a weekend binging something I go and get snacks and drinks and make it a mini-event. But if I can do it whenever I feel like it, then it isn't really fun anymore? It's just a thing I'm doing. There's no more looking forward to doing it when I can just do it at any point in time.
