I feel both this and its opposite, which is that people should be able to have Real Reasons for not liking something without getting told "it's ok to not have a reason not to like things!" I don't agree with OP's opinion, but it doesn't sound like they're reaching for an imaginary excuse not to like the ship and a lot of similarly sincere-seeming grievances get this kind of response. It's also ok for other people to not like things you like for reasons you don't agree with.

I mean... they are kinda reaching. It's not nearly as bad as they make it sound.

+1

I'm sure OP has genuine feelings on the matter and I respect that, but I also can't blame their friends for not anticipating such a negative reaction to things that, in canon, aren't as extreme as OP is making them out to be (and I say this as someone who gets very pissed off when people rec me things without content warnings)

DA - Absolutely this! I tend to have Real Reasons for not liking things, and those reasons matter to me. That doesn't mean that everyone has to care about my reasons or feel the same way. But it also doesn't mean I'm just grasping at straws and making shit up to validate my feelings. If I don't like something because I just don't vibe with it, I will say that. But if I say I don't like something because XYZ, then I don't like it because XYZ.
