I don't think there was anything supernatural about Elisa Lam, but is there a reason she was able to get in the water tank? Every article or video I've read or seen made a big deal out of it being unlikely if not impossible to get in herself. Sorry if this sounds disrespectful; it was a horrible tragedy. I'm just frustrated the only explanation provided seems to be "murder! Ghosts!!".

IIRC a worker at the hotel had left the lid off the tank, and when her body was found, the lid was still off the tank. A lot of the speculation focused on how she got the lid off and pulled it back on top when she was inside, and it turns out this information had gotten lost in the shuffle.

Yeah, I've seen people make a big deal out of the whole issue, but honestly, I don't think it's that hard. The door to the roof was supposed to have been kept locked, but there's no guarantee that it was and any employee who left it open is unlikely to admit it now. She also could've used the fire escape. As for the water tanks themselves, they're tall, but they're not built to be impregnable. If you Google for pics, you'll see that the tanks are close enough that a determined person could sort of brace their feet and back and shimmy up. There's also a fence/guardrail thingy on one side that a person could climb up on.

Unlikely? Sure. But not impossible. People just like to exaggerate how "impossible" it was just like how they exaggerate how "eerie" the elevator footage is to make the whole thing seem more spooky.
