Yeah, antis suck, but as someone who unfortunately used to borderline be one, I'm so much more baffled by the antis who take issue with aging characters up. Like ffs, why are you STILL mad?! I guess I was like a 4/10 anti in my day, because these weirdos are taking it to a whole other level of insufferable.

It's easy to understand once you realize that there's no sincerity in it. They start with a feeling of unfocused disgust towards a ship, and then retroactively reach to come with reasons why it's "pedo" somehow.

It is 1000% disingenuous and dishonest, they just realize that going nuclear with pedo libel is a lot more effective in getting people to rally against it then just saying "I don't like it."

This, honestly. It's okay to dislike something. It really is. It's not okay to force and bully everyone else into not liking it (spoiler alert: it doesn't work anyway).

This is super pedantic and slightly off-topic, but it can’t be libel if someone is being called a pedo. It also isn’t slander or defamation. Calling someone a pedophile is considered an opinion by the law. It could only be libel if the person is saying the person they’re calling a pedophile actually acted on it and abused a child. Because that’s accusing them of a crime. But if they’re just being called a pedo, that’s not libel, like I said.

It’s the reason why calling someone a wife-beater isn’t considered libelslander, but accusing them of actually beating their wife is. It might seem like the same thing, that carries an accusation of a crime either way, but there’s a distinction in the eyes of the law. I’m not saying it’s great or ideal, but it’s protected by free speech in countries that have it. And the pedo thing in particular is even more of a distinction, because there is a difference between being a pedophile and actually abusing children. This is the reason Elon Musk won in court(besides the fact that he’s rich enough to do so anyways) when the man he called a pedophile for saving those children sued him for doing so. As shitty and horrible as it was that Musk called him a pedo purely for doing something so selfless as saving kids all because Musk wanted to do it himself first so he could play hero and boost his already massive ego, the poor man who sued him didn’t have a case. Because pedo is still an opinion.
