If you give EVERY book you read 4 or 5 stars, I don't trust your recommendations.

That’s just good sense.

Counterpoint- as a long-time reader who knows what he likes and is an adult with things to do, most of my book reviews are 4 or 5 stars. I don't have time to waste on finishing a 1 or a 2, and I don't feel passionate enough about a 3 to write up and post a review when I have real life stuff fighting for my attention.

I do log a lot of 3s on lettrboxed, I even finish a few 1s and 2s, because the time commitment is different, because I watch movies that the people I'm watching with pick, and because I can get things done with a movie on.

I agree, I'd rather start a new book than slog through one I'm not enjoying just for the sake of finishing it, and I don't leave reveiws for things I didn't finish.
