As the title says! Based on...uh, whichever secret it was, I can't remember the number.

Uh, lets see. A bunch of fan songs. Heralds of Valdemar, Star Wars, Tolkien, and various other fandom songs. I love them, but if I'm at a light I will skip them just in case.

Occasionally a soundtrack.

Pop/rap/etc. songs with really dirty lyrics, especially if those lyrics are obviously sexist. If I like the sounds, I listen and don't pay attention to the words. But if there is a chance of it being hurt I'll skip.

Eh. I really can't think of anything.

Sea shanties. Apparently they're not cool?

Coincidentally, I just watched a YT video of Rob Pattinson breaking down his career, and he mentioned being surprised by discovering (after doing The Lighthouse) that apparently sea chanties are really popular. So IDK anon, if Rob Pattinson is to be believed, maybe they are cool!

Where were you when sea shanties were super trendy just last year? That might have died down a bit, but I get the general gist that people do still like them. Some people still put out cool covers of them, especially metal covers.

Actually, they seem to be quite in vogue as of late.

They were in vogue for approximately two weeks over a year ago.

I’ve been on a Springsteen kick and he’s very unpopular here (I live in the south where we have a high concentration of blue collar workers who also happen to be ultra right wing nutcases and they HATE Springsteen). So I keep my volume low since I mostly make 1-2 mile trips running my errands and it’s bad for the environment and my car to run the air conditioner for those short journeys. I’m not embarrassed per se, I’m more frightened one of the far right nutcases here will decide his second amendment rights grant him permission to murder me at a stop light.

Yikes! It really is just self preservation not to cross those demented assholes. Todd in The Shadows couldn’t have been more wrong when he said that even Republicans like Springsteen.

I think people think that sometimes because of how many republican candidates have blasted Born in the USA at campaign rallies. I was in the army and they played it for us on the way to and from Afghanistan which was hilariously morbid! (I did not reenlist.)

I made the mistake of putting on soundtracks from 80's horror flicks at work once while I was on shift by myself. Walking in on someone doing janitorial work as serial killer-sounding music plays in the background definitely raises eyebrows.

This made me laugh harder than it should. I feel you, but also, I am sorry that you had to quit that.

Any early 2000s pop/pop rock type of song. Catch me listening to Jessica Simpson? No you didn't.

I love singing Gavin DeGraw, but it embarrasses me simultaneously lol. Him and James Morrison (that blue eye soul singer, I like his songs). I should apparently feel embarrassed about listening to James Blunt and Coldplay but fuck you for judging me.lmao

Well there’s at least one other person that doesn’t find these artists embarrassing. That person is me.

I feel this! Honestly, A Rush Of Blood To The Head was a phenomenal album and it still is and I will die on that hill. And James Blunt has some great stuff!

I don't know much about Gavin DeGraw except that I have been weirdly obsessed with Follow Through since I was 15 and heard it in the promo for Skin, that failed 2003 Fox TV show that was trying to be modern day Romeo & Juliet. For some reason it crawled into my brain and never crawled out again. The song, not the show, thank god.

I can only think of one example, probably because it’s so recent that I got back into it for the nostalgia alone, and it’s “Invisible” by Clay Aiken.

Oh man, hahaha, this is a GREAT answer! I don't blame you for bopping to it, it's catchy, and also wow nostalgia. But it's definitely high on the cringe-o-meter, even in an era where the whole concept of cringe is largely out of favor.

Self-depreciating answer: Almost everything because I'm always weirdly self-conscious about getting judged for my taste in music because of some uncomfortable experiences in the past.

But more specifically: Some anime openings/endings (not all though), Chris de Burgh, Weird Al and other joke songs and a lot of medieval rock/fansongs/old-timey folk.

Probably some early 2000s songs that I don't really think are great, but sometimes I listen to them out of nostalgia. I woudn't judge anyone else for listening to them, I'd just feel weird about it because they don't really sit with my personal taste but with my memories instead.
