Medical Question

[personal profile] philstar22 2022-06-24 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, I did allergy testing today. And my back feels like it is on fire (and according to my mom my skin actually feels hot). I already had my mom put some benadryl cream on, is there anything else I can do? I've also taken benadryl as well.

They didn't really give me any instructions other than antihistimine.

Cold towel, cool shower, fan on naked skin....otherwise, not much else to be done. Sorry it's hurting!

Does it hurt? I am the kind of person who applies snake venom ointment there whenever it hurts lol, not sure if it's good advice or just me being silly.

Yes, parts of it sting. I don't think we have that, but I'll see what we have in the cabinet that I can get my mother to put on me. Thanks.

Cool shower to lower your body temperature; histamine raises it and it can just kinda keep building. Also, Benadryl caplets contain some of the most common allergens so in future I’d go for Zyrtec or if you want the same exact antihistamine as Benadryl you can get that from Unisom Sleep Melts.
After your shower, put some baking soda in warm water (I do 1/2 cup of sodium bicarbonate per 1/2 gallon of water) and soak a tea towel in it, wring it out and lay it over the affected area. You could also do a paste of baking soda with a little bit of water and just smooth that over the site(s).
I hope you feel better tomorrow!

Maybe Cortisone cream would help? It helps with poison ivy allergic reaction.
