Cool shower to lower your body temperature; histamine raises it and it can just kinda keep building. Also, Benadryl caplets contain some of the most common allergens so in future I’d go for Zyrtec or if you want the same exact antihistamine as Benadryl you can get that from Unisom Sleep Melts.
After your shower, put some baking soda in warm water (I do 1/2 cup of sodium bicarbonate per 1/2 gallon of water) and soak a tea towel in it, wring it out and lay it over the affected area. You could also do a paste of baking soda with a little bit of water and just smooth that over the site(s).
