I know Metatron's everybody's least favorite character... but even with every awful thing he did, I found his redemption arc-- such as it was-- a thousand times more believable and enjoyable than Ketch's. I HATE that man, and I'll take Metatron at his worst over Ketch at his best.

I agree with you but I also think Supernatural tried more with it's angels/demons than with it's humans. Like angels/demons would have actual existential crises, and the antagonist humans would be like "why not help the Winchesters, I've got nothing else to do!"
