Re: Roe v. Wade thread.

Fucking hell. I know it was coming, and have for several years, just from watching the trends in politics, but it was still like a punch in the gut to read the news this morning. The next thing they're going to try to do is get a federal abortion ban through the House and Senate, while the Supreme Court goes after same-sex marriage.

The one silver lining is that this may be what it takes to wake up the majority of voters who are actually in favor of abortion rights, and get them to the voting booths in November.

That is a very small silver lining, but I do think it was stupid of them to put it out before November. Hopefully there is a massive groundswell and Republicans actually lose ground in November.

For what it's worth, this is one of the things that could do it. Not just abortion, but the other things implied by this decision. Things like the right to privacy being stripped away completely, and malicious prosecutions of women who've had miscarriages, and the things the courts go after next.
