As a non-USian, what bothers me about this is less that this puts the decision of healthcare back in the hands of individual states (this is no different than how Canada works, healthcare decisions/laws are at a provincial level), but that there are SO MANY fucking states that basically just had their hand on the trigger waiting for this to be struck down so they could make abortion illegal, often with zero exceptions.

And the utter fucking cluelessness on Twitter "Oh just move to a state that allows it then!" like people can afford to just fucking uproot their lives over this...

Isn't "move states" also pretty useless when there's Republicans that have indicated today that if they take back Congress this November, a country-wide ban is on their agenda?

I'd be curious to see how they'd swing the logic on a country-wide ban when they just overturned a country-wide approval? Like, doesn't returning decision making to individual governments mean they couldn't pass a country-wide ban? But US politics confuse the heck out of me.

Yeah I've had similar thoughts, but you can always count on the GOP to basically go "this doesn't count as the same thing because reasons" and the Democrats to go "we've tried nothing and are all out of ideas" in response I guess.

Legally? No, they're two different things. Politically? You could certainly argue that it's hypocritical but the GOP obviously doesn't care about being hypocritical.
