How does this show hold up on the whole?

I only ask because it was basically my "getting through late teenage insomnia" show and I LOVED it but like a lot of things from 15-20 years ago I'm worried I'll ruin my nostalgia if I re-watch it. Like, a part of me wonders if it worked for me because of teenage angst/edginess and the fact my brain was starved of sleep so everything seemed hilarious past a certain point. Anyway, I didn't watch it all the way through but definitely saw the earlier stuff.

It holds up well, better than most shows.

It's so random that it's holds up pretty well. I'm sure there's some early 00's messiness but I still enjoy it and sometimes it still feel very topical. What's nice is that Master Shake is so narcissistic that it's pretty hard for an watcher to identify with him, so the show never feels like it's validating him in any way, which is sometimes where other adult swim shows lost me and feel dated now. It's satirical but it doesn't feel like early 00's "ironic" humor.

Thank you OP (and anon above) I may be overdue a re-watch it seems :)

That's definitely what I remember about Shake. He wasn't the sort of character people could claim was misunderstood or whatever. Nah, he was just an arsehole and sometimes in the context of the show that was entertaining, but not aspirational!
