Granted I was Lurky McLurker for months until like four days ago so IDK what my opinion's worth

I kind of like the system that's developed in the last week of having the individual comment threads for each secret, but then there's that handful of people on the last two pages who rock out with their bad selves and just post comments without looking for the threads.

I like the comment system. I can easily find the posts I want to comment on without ten pages of Ctrl+F, plus it cuts down on the number of "What series is this again?" posts. If folks wanna rock out on last pages, I say go for it. Even searching two pages for extra comments is better than searching 10.

IAWTC.

Agreed on all counts. And frankly, I'd say that given how much the new system cuts down on page numbers, that alone makes it worth while.

Yeah, I keep forgetting that we've changed the system, myself...

Well then they'd lose out, because I, for one, will not bother reading those, not when our lovely mod has set up such a wonderful system :D

Sycophant, much?

And -- for the record -- I doubt any of us could care less if you read 'em or not.

Pretty much! If they wanna rock out on the last pages, they're free to, but I'm not skimming through it when there's a system set up.

Keep the new system! The people who don't like it post the old way anyway. I think it's much more organized. I also love that I don't have to scroll up to remember what secret was what number. 8D

This is just my opinion~

Here's a thought:

If you're going to link the secret images in the comment threads anyway, why not skip having them in the post altogether, and just put the images themselves in comments?

Might cut down on the "last two pages of fighting-the-power" phenomenon. (I keep almost posting a comment with all my responses, i.e. working with the old system, just because I forget the individual threads are there.)

Maybe test it for a week, see if it works in practice?

[identity profile] parametric.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Personally I don't think that's the best idea, simply because it seems kind of inconvenient. I mean, I don't want to have to click through some-odd pages of this stuff if I'm probably not going to comment on it - and keeping all the secrets in the actual post makes it easy to check back and see which other secrets you meant to comment on.

I -love- this idea. This means that I can open up any thread I want to see in a separate tab. This is almost to the level of having clickable images to the individual secrets and where to comment to it. It also would kill the silly people making comments after all is said ans done at the end. Yeah, it sucks if you wanna comment on more than one, but if you aren't willing to make a few comment posts, did you really want to comment that badly?

Seeing 'new icons' and sparking up conversations still happens. In fact, I think it's happening more! Are people in here seriously going to bother reading every page and every comment looking for good conversation, even if it's about something they don't know? I really doubt it.

I keep forgetting not to fill out polls with my RP account...

Anyway, I was skeptical, but this system totally works way better than I'd expected. If people want to see some adjustments I don't see any problem with experimenting a bit, though. And kudos to you for taking on all this extra effort.

[identity profile] phantom-roxs.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd say lose the links in the comments next to the secret number, because a lot of people who use photobucket with the secrets, have the same username on there as on here, and that pretty much gives away the whole point of having a "secret"

[identity profile] star-fire13.livejournal.com 2009-04-12 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
IAWTC

I mean, if people REALLY want to know if there's a bunch of secrets by the same person, they WILL rightclick and hit "properties" or whatever, but most people are too lazy to. With having the links posted though, it's BLATANTLY OBVIOUS what Photobucket users have which secrets. =/

[identity profile] seiora.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Even though the number of those who like the new comment system outweigh those that don't, there's still quite a few who are having trouble with the new system. Would it be possible to switch between them every other week or something?

(Anonymous) 2009-04-11 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That's just dumb. And would be confusing.

The people who don't like it will just comment themselves after the main comment threads. If their comments get ignored in favor of the organized version, tough luck.
