What single word do you hate more than any other word in the English language?

Let the linguistic hate flow through you. Inspired by today's Secret #1.

I have been conditioned to outright flinch at the word 'wholesome'.

Hmmm. There are a bunch I don't like. I really hate pussy, but I don't know if I'd call it my most hated.

Woke. I hate woke, mostly because it is used by racist/sexist/homophobic people who are mad at being called out on their awfulness. I've rarely seen the word used in a way that was useful or where the meaning was clear.

Anyone who non-sarcastically uses "woke", "social justice warrior", "politically correct" or "cancel culture" are people whose opinions I know I can disregard.

My first exposure in life to the word 'pussy' were all the jokes from Are You Being Served? about Ms. Slocum's Pussy and child-me did not understand why this was so funny at the time. Now I associate it with that cat lmao.

Woke was yet another victim of misappropriation from the black community

Panties. I just hate how cutesy it sounds. Same goes for pussy.

I agree. Underwear is underwear. Why do we need to have a cutesy word for the kind women wear? And pussy sounds soft and cutesy and the opposite of what I want sex to be. If men get harsh, strong words for their genitals, why can't we?

Knickers is a perfectly good word, as is jocks.

Facetious --- it comes off pretentious sounding

College made the word "problematic" completely meaningless to me.

Cum.

I absolutely loathe the use of the word cum in smut--as a verb, as a noun, I don't care; unless it's being used as a Latin preposition, I don't want to see it anywhere near the fanfic I'm reading. But after having been thoroughly out of favor in every fandom I was in for years and years, it now seems to be making a resurgence.

I hate it so fucking much.

'Problematic'

It might once have had some kind of useful meaning as in, 'there is a problem in this text that the text itself unpacks' or, 'there is a problem in this text that maybe the audience should spend some time unpacking'.

Mostly, now, it could be replaced by a Thumbs Down emoji with no change in intended meaning.

'Problematic' should be where the discussion starts, not where it ends.

I almost always assume "heritage" is a dogwhistle, these days.

Unlike some anons above I hate the word cunt.
As a non-English speaker there are a lot of words I hate because I have a hard time pronouncing them: worth, regularly, with (w and th combination makes me cry), significantly

'Content' (stressor on the first syllable), 'problematic', 'toxic', 'drop'.

Content is the worst by far though.

Creatives, with an s, as in people who create things, usually independently of a corporation. Pretentious as fuck.

Smoll. It's not "proper" English, but everytime I read that word I just can't take anything seriosuly anyone. Soft, too, when used to describe a person.

I hate to pronounce "government" and "catholic" because I stress those words as I'd do in my native language and I sound ridiculous.

Abbreviations I hate with a passion - especially if someone says them out loud: "combo", "info", and especially "deets".
Expressions: "my bad" (your bad WHAT? Just say "my mistake" or "I'm sorry" or literally ANYTHING ELSE). "Fail" - the way people use that now makes my eyelid twitch.
