Overdrive also works reasonably well. I live in Hong Kong and use it through a library account my sister made while she was living in Chicago. And only because I managed to lose my login to my old NYPL account.

NAYRT--Libby and Overdrive are from the same company. My library uses Cloudlibrary.

Options are good and sounds like they're more now than when I was looking a few years ago. Perhaps the OP should look into it.

If the OP were using a service similar to what I have (and I don't even use it to its full capacity due to lack of time), I just don't see why they have to angst so much over not paying for books.
