Nope, disagree on so many levels. It's important to remember that real-life villains are people, not monsters from outer space, because otherwise we lose sight of how villains are made. And we forget to keep tabs on our own latent villain tendencies, because just about everybody has those. Villains in real life don't think they're villains, they identify with the heroes because they believe they are justified.

Also, how the hell do superhero movies teach us how to fight real villains? Antifa doesn't have any Infinity Stones that I'm aware of.

πŸ‘†πŸ‘†πŸ‘†

"Evil people in IRL are inhuman monsters" + "I am not an inhuman monster" = "I am categorically incapable of doing evil and so do not need to evaluate my actions"

Endorsed. The anti-abortion people think they’re fighting IRL supervillains. That in and of itself is reason not to think in terms of supervillains.

Exactly. The Proud Boys think they're the noble rebellion against an evil empire.

Yeah, like, real life superheroes get up at four am and go around collecting food that's about to expire, make big pots of soup and go feed hungry people. They testify about watching their family get obliterated by drone strikes when they were seven to try and stop it happening again. They escort people getting abortions past screaming people throwing shit, and sometimes get killed. They argue cases pro bono. They haven't eaten all day and give half their one meal to a random stranger who hasn't eaten in two days. They put on waders and parkas and rescue neighbors and their pets during floods.

Even the ones who put on superhero spandex go visit kids in the hospital.

If giving an inspiring speech and then punching Mitch McConnell in the face really hard could've saved US democracy, the line would've been miles long.
