(Anonymous) 2022-06-30 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)Streaming helped with a lot. But region locking was a problem before VPNs were something I had heard of.
So I’m probably very lax about pirating as a result. Even if I did sometimes feel bad. And I almost never pirate anything anymore. But I still don’t judge.
I still always tried to buy the things I liked after I had already watched/read/played/listened to them to support the creators. But my monetary situation isn’t the same as everyone else. And not everyone can afford to but things that aren’t necessities. Much less would consider it necessary to buy it after they already pirated it.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-01 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)I'm the "check your USA priviledge" anon above and this is exactly what I mean. You're a way better writer than me.
Me, too, like you, don't pirate almost anything nowadays because I don't have to anymore, but I just can't judge people that pirate stuff and become weirdly defensive of pirating as a whole.
As I said, for me pirating is [the greatest equalizer in accessing EVERY for of entertainment from every part of the world.] Without piracy there would be no world wide fandom culture, especially for people that are even a little older than GenZ.
