The artist for Nerf Now made the same complaint about the FFVII remake, that creepy shit is treated as okay when the creeper is a woman who’s supposed to be sexually attractive.

(Additional shout out to the movie Horrible Bosses, where one MC finally blows up at his female boss and demands a “rape-free workplace.”)

I was about to say "actually... she is just complimenting... not touching... being flirty is not harassing... double standard, because Kaeya... Not All Women..." but the other half JUST acknowledged that as someone who cosplays both Lisa and Aerith I probably shouldn't have much of a say in this. Maybe I like flirty hot ladies? who knows

Do the male characters flirt and/or harass or is it just the women? Because yeah, that's fucked up if so.

I don't know enough about Genshin Impact to have a real opinion on it and I know this isn't the point of the secret but as someone who enjoys dating elements and sex within videogames, I wish more games had both hot women and hot men equally interested in the player. It always feels so skewed one way or the other even if there are bisexual options.

Two of the free characters you get to play with from the beginning of the game (that's Lisa, pictured above, and my boy Kaeya) flirt with the player a lot, regardless of gender (the dialogues don't change). They also flirt with other characters.

Kaeya isn't anywhere nearly as bad as Lisa. And at least he didn't drug the birthday food.
The game generally treats female characters harassing others very differently than male characters - just the contrast between... everything Ying'er does and how the Barbara stalker/superfan is dealt with.

She calls your character “Cutie” constantly, makes other flirty comments I can’t remember off the top of my head but…isn’t too terrible IMHO.

The more egregious one happens during a main quest with an NPC wherein it’s at least entertaining to watch the reactions of streamers when they realize what she sounds like. One line is something along the lines of stroking until the juices start to come out. On the one hand, for what you’re doing it’s actually totally legit…on the other? It’s obviously intended for you to think the dirty interpretation. Your character has the option to play along though so there’s that at least.

Well, I mean, Lisa sounds sexual even when she is climbing mountains ffs. The developers went all out with the fanservice appeal on her. But I don't think her behavior is objectionable.

I just really hate it when people give you flirty nicknames and consider it something between cringe and inappropriate, no matter the gender. If some dude constantly flirting with you and calling you pet names is kinda creepy, it's not better when women do it.

Except in this case the characters HAVE to give you nicknames because every player enters a different name. So it's either a nickname with a personal touch or just generic traveler.

...Does Lisa sexually harass you? I seem to recall her being playful and flirty, but that's... It? I don't recall her being very touchy-feely, and flirting isn't the same as sexual harassment. Especially because she's uh. She clearly uses this as an excuse to get out of work lmao

Is flirting sexual harassment now? I mean there are obviously lines there, like it's definitely not okay in the workplace or if you've asked someone not to. . But outside of those circumstances? Yeah okay whatever.

I mean... it's not like you can ask them not to in a video game and it is, in fact, in her workplace. Also they keep mentioning the MC being too young for alcohol but apparently they aren't too young to be constantly hit on by an adult woman. I don't generally care about the age thing with fictional characters but there is a very obvious double standard going on.

And if a male character was constantly showering a female character with unwanted/unwarranted pet names it would absolutely be seen as sleazy at best.

Well, I agree that both women and men who do things like that in fiction can be regarded as "sleazy" . But it's fiction. I hate people who flirt/harass others and particularly me IRL (I can't stress enough how unavailable I am and hate when people bother) but I like those sleazy/flirty character types in fiction, just like some people enjoy rape or incest in fiction but wouldn't approve of it IRL.

I'm just tired of the "bad thing is sexy/funny when the person doing it is female" trope. Obviously, you can like it. I don't. And obviously, it's fiction. I'm not sure if you're airt, but if so, you started with applying real life parameters to the secret, I just replied to that. Whether or not someone likes this stuff or not doesn't change the fact that it is what it is.

I really wish people would stop saying people enjoy "rape" in fiction when the way it's portrayed is almost always consensual or wanted. Rape is traumatic and by definition means it's completely against your will and not something you secretly want. That type of fucked up thinking just enables rapists who won't take no for an answer. Wanting to be ravished by someone you are into or rough sex is not the same as rape.

I'm fine with Lisa but was uncomfortable with that Liyue shopkeeper that makes innuendos when player buys insense. Dialogue options implied that the isekaied girl/guy is uncomfortable with that.

There was also a couple where the wife pretends to be very ill so that her (ex)sailor husband stays by her side. How messed up is that?

And then there's the mega tsundere martial artist girl who is full on obsessed with her older martial brother and he is something between wilfully oblivious and uncomfortable with it.
But yeah, Lisa is much more harmless than Ying'er (the perfume lady). Still dislike it but she's not as bad.

I'm not sure which event it was (might have been the first Lantern Festival) but there were some other interactions with them where she basically was about to fight you just because you were disturbing her alone-time with him. She's incredibly possessive.
