'I hope she can build herself a happy life elsewhere.'
After all the lies in the court? What the actual fuck. There's many more deserving actors that weren't cought fabricating evidence and contradicting their own testimony.

This whole thread makes me hate fs so much. I hope that the ok people just stayed out of this thread. This is crazy.

I hate how it gets brought up at all, honestly. But they both contradicted themselves and their own testimony, so that’s a faulty premise to get so angry about. This case, and pretty much all others, will have people coming to different conclusions. And those different conclusions seem obvious to some, and crazy to others. So yelling at people for thinking and feeling differently about this than you do isn’t productive or a great look.

I watched the trial and do not remember Depp fabricating evidence or contradicting his own testimony. There was one phone message that he said he didn't send and Amber's team didn't bring any evidence that he send it.

I didn’t say he fabricated evidence, just that he contradicted himself and his testimony. He would deny saying and doing things, and then concede that he did when the evidence saying otherwise came up. The texts to Paul Bettany about burning her corpse was one example. He started off denying that he ever said that, and then admitted to it and gave his reasons after the texts were verified to exist. He explained himself well enough, so I’m not saying or attempting to infer it should have affected the way the case went. I think the case went in a good direction, and I’m happy with the results.

The difference is, Amber Heard never once conceded any wrongdoing when confronted with lying or inconsistencies in her testimony. She just looked sideways and said "I don't recall," or "I don't remember that." And the opposing counsel showed instances of Heard's testimony being outright inconsistent with *physical evidence* and she plain said "You just can't see it." Or she tried to reframe her words in audio recordings in the most ridiculous and transparent way.

Her lying was absolutely the worst part of watching that trial. I was so disappointed. I felt betrayed as someone who has been helpless in the face of real abuse. She made shit up. To make money. And used #MeToo, and now all the MRA assholes are chortling.

I despise her.

This whole thread makes me hate fs so much. I hope that the ok people just stayed out of this thread. This is crazy.

Pretty sure there's a lot of people, here and elsewhere, who didn't actually follow the case and are largely forming their opinions based on the fact that they believed Heard in the beginning and so identify her as the victim, and they adhere to the basic underlying principle that you should always believe the victim. Therefore, nothing can supersede their conviction that she is the victim and is to be believed. From where they stand, any other case developments are all just lies, fabrications, and spin created by the misogynist societal machinery that will do anything and everything it can to undermine female victims.

The thing is, I get where they're coming from. The world IS misogynistic, and it absolutely DOES undermine victims, especially female ones, any time it's given the tiniest sliver of a chance.

However, none of that justifies the blind dogmatism with which a lot of people are clinging to "Believe the victim" as basically all they really need to know about this case in order to form an opinion.

Excellent comment! Thank you for articulating this so well.
