Depends on a lot of stuff, including whether the person can stay clean and sober, if they need to detox first (if they binge instead of being always wasted maybe they can go in sober which probably saves time to start) how much money they have, whether they're doing inpatient followed by outpatient or just doing outpatient, etc.

(Only experience was watching my mom, who never stayed sober, and a couple people I knew in passing, who stayed sober afterwards.)
