(OP of secret 1 here) aww yeah, I think there was this weird factor surrounding it like game gets launched mid-pandemic - turns hugely popular quickly - a lot of (anime-loving because apparently anime is huge among teens again?) teens who are stuck at home mid-pandemic looking for anything to have fun with get into it - they form this tight-knit community that is... good in some ways, and then bad in others.

It's not even that few adults play Genshin, it's just that TOO MANY teens play it. It's been my main fandom for the past year and I learn a lot with the kids and I think they're cute, there are some really nice kids in Genshin fandom, and to be fair I feel almost happy that some of them hate me for being a "problematic" adult into KaeLuc or ChongQiu because 1) we can agree that we just don't want to talk to each other so that makes it easier 2) growing up I was often "the vanilla prude" in my fandoms because I wasn't into actually problematic ships, like actual incest, huge age gaps or rape shit, so it's fun to get to sit on the other side of the fence.

On the other hand, it makes me feel very alienated/isolated and painfully aware of my old age. Someone should write an isekai about a 2020s Genshin teen (the kind that freaks out about fantasy pronouns, criticizes artists who paint Kaeya in pastel colors and "ratio"es KaeLuc fans) being sent to 2000s fandom. I am not a fan of other people's suffering or misery, and I don't even think they are bad kids (I would rather have them than incels any day, well most days. Kidding. Any day!!) but I would pay to read that.

LMAOOO, alot of teens in fandom have become so pretentious and expect everyone to cater to their views, hence alot of them going around trying to get people to commit suicide because they shipped something they didn't like. I wish I got to experience early 2000s fandom; sure it had its own dumb ship drama, but at least most people weren't trying to turn it into some kind of moral crusade. And it wasn't so widespread like now, where I feel scared even joining discord servers for fear of being ridiculed.

AYRT - Yeah that is the scary part. I have mental health issues myself so if I was "cancelled" as a teen it sure would have taken a toll on me:( It was more like the immoral crusade back then, lmaoo. Again, had its ups and downs.

I was in a really dark place back in late 2020-early 2021 and fandom was the ONLY thing that made me happy back then, so when I saw people trying to literally get people KILLED over the stupidest of things it made my anxiety alot worse. I miss when fandom was just a bunch of people having fun. When will people just enjoy things again :/
