"premium choices" should be the new slang term for sex

bonus points if it gives you a sense of pride and accomplishment

They do that?!?!?

Wild.

So true lol.

Can someone explain please?

I haven't played these kinda of games, but I have played otome games. If it's as an anon up thread reports, that premium choices is just a euphemism for sex, then I'm wondering if it's similar to the games I've played, in which sexy times amount to some "in the throes of passion" portraits of the character being romances (no actual nudity) and just enough mediocre suggestively written smut to start a small fire in the loins. Maybe.

Can someone please explain what happens with these choices? Is it smutty writing or varying degrees of quality or actual NSFW images and game play? A completely alternate route that has nothing to do with sex?

I mean as far as I've played, both otome and premium/per choice episode like platforms- the only difference is that by otome standards (as they are now?) you use the $$ payed credits to have the /chance/ to win a premium card/reward per event/character vs. you use $$ for a 'premium' route that you can only access through the rarer $$ income. (like how you can buy gems with real money to quick buy results/objectives vs. [though perhaps not anymore] earn one gem per 1000 task reward, otherwise be restricted to only play through the 'free' $/gold measure the game gives you otherwise)
Gatcha is basically translated to a roulette based win. Though I'm sure otome games have been called this improperly as well;; so I can't be 100% sure what OP is talking about. It has less to do with sex but rather the 'right' choice, though pt can definitely imply the more intimate option, if only because it's something to spend money for.

BASICALLY! OP is implying they spend $$ on a guaranteed SR/R object (be it image or item) rather than buy a single option in a 'pay per play' premium route. Like, technically as far as I know, sex has nothing to do with it. Only that the game heavily implies the 'buy for' option is the 'right' one... even if there really isn't any difference in the end.

I haven’t read about these in relation to sex, although I suppose it could happen. The TV Tropes pages mention things like fight scenes where you pay out to have your character do something awesome during the fight, or a horror game where there’s a premium choice for your character to adopt a pet monster. To me, it seems rather nickel-and-dime compared to just buying a visual novel.

As someone who's played both, in free otoge you HAVE TO pay for particular scenes or branches with Best Guy while in gacha you may or may not spend to "roll" depending on your disposable income.

lol it all depends on how much $$ you put out to get those choices tbh. The premium choice crew at least gets a solid rate as far as gems are considered.
