Seconding all of this, 100%.

I think there are smaller pairings for whom the majority of the fics on AO3 are a big multi-fandom slurry, but there are fairly simple ways of filtering most of those fics out, and even if you don't filter them out, as you say, they are usually easy to recognize on sight and ignore.
