It sounds to me like, you probably need to take a step back and maybe take a break, I find that helps when I become to wrapped up in things where I start having thoughts and behaviors that make me uncomfortable. Getting some distance for a bit is probably the best thing to do. If a pairing makes you want to vomit that is a huge sign of overinvestment and isn't healthy.

That said, if the fandom you are talking about is the one that I am thinking of, it does go both ways and the non-canon side gave just as much as they got and there are probably people on the other side that feel the exact way that you do.

Edit: and seeing from your comment, it is not what I was thinking of so disregard the second paragraph.

I think you are absolutely right. I have not completely backed away from the fandom, but I'm trying to focus on other things and just have fun with it in my own playgrounds. If things get any worse, I'll be falling back on some of my other hobbies for a while.
