I have covid and I'm miserable. I feel so crappy. My head hurts like mad and I can't take anything because I have a severe painkiller allergy. I want to eat but everything tastes so bland. And I miss going to work. Today's the first day I've been able to stay awake, although not really able to get out of bed, and I am so bored.

anon from above you:

I'm sorry, those first couple of days really were awful. :( I pretty much just laid in bed watching true crime shows all day lol.

Do you have anything you can play games on? That super helps pass the time, and I can probably suggest something or another if you're interested?

I've been playing ACNH and BotW intermittently, but the Switch doesn't have fantastic battery life and my bedroom isn't equipped for consoles by design. I'll gladly take any suggestions you have, thank you!

Oh great, Switch games are definitely within my wheelhouse!

If you like JRPGs, definitely pick up the Chrono Cross remaster-- it also comes with the first English-language release of the text adventure sort-of-prequel Radical Dreamers, which is awesome.

If you like roguelikes and amazing art direction and music, grab Hades. Honestly even if you've never played roguelikes I think it's a great place to start with them; the difficulty ramps up gently, so you can get used to the gameplay incrementally as you get stronger. It's so good.

Monster Hunter Rise is another really, really great game that's super satisfying to play-- it's pretty much what it says on the tin, haha, you go out and hunt monsters. You have a dog friend and a cat friend to help you out, too. It can get hard, but it's not unfair-- it's just a matter of finding the right path of attack for each monster. SO good. This one is multiplayer, too, if you have friends you can get to play online!

I have plenty more lmao, but this is a good starter!

!!!

I have wanted to play Chrono Cross for, like, twenty years. I had no idea there was a remaster. Thank you so much for the recs, this will definitely help with the boredom. ♥

Oh good!! I'm so glad! It's one of my absolute favorite JRPGs ever, so I was incredibly excited to see it get the remaster treatment. Adding Radical Dreamers to the mix was just an amazing surprise.

Plus it's not as expensive as first-party titles, and since you're getting two games in one it's a lot of bang for your buck. :D Enjoy! And rest up. Lots of fluids!

I'm so sorry for you right now, the only way I got through mine was by munching painkillers every few hours. :( Drink lots and lots of water! Warm drinks always feel good if you have a sore throat too. My go-to for entertainment when ill is usually a good binge watch of a comfort show or a timesink game like an RPG. I see another anon recommended Hades, which I'm seconding; was a godsend when I was sofa-bound from surgery last year. Really addictive, really fun and pretty to boot.

(Also puzzle books, because I'm apparently an old lady in spirit)

I hope tomorrow treats you a little better. <3

Ugh, I'm sorry. Glad you've been able to stay awake a bit today, at least, hopefully that's a sign that you're slowly getting better. Here's to a speedy recovery.
