ARE YA READY FOR SOME BASEBALL?!?

(Anonymous) 2022-07-23 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
'Cause Boston certainly wasn't.

Holy shit! Blue Jays won 28-5!! It was in Boston too, so like I really hope all the Jays fans at Fenway pulled the same move that one Lightning fan did in Leafs Square during the hockey playoffs and just quietly stealthed their way out- like wowza that's huge! Crazy game!!

Talk:
Baseball
Crazy Wins
Sports?
????

Insane blowout.

The fans must have peaced out, absolutely nothing in sports feels more pointless than the late innings of a baseball game where your team is getting blown out and has no chance of winning. The only saving grace is that you get to see a position player pitch if it's really bad.

I legit could not believe it. Like I actually missed the live broadcast since I needed my monitor for work and was only able to check the score around the 6th inning- it was like 24-3 and I couldn't help but watch the clip of Tapia's infield grandslam! It was /amazing/!! The Boston guy, Duran I think it was, must have lost it in the lights or something and gave up right there in the fourth I guess!

I imagine most people had to have left as well. Though, honestly, I'll never be able to wrap my head around how someone could do that to their team personally. Like especially in a game like baseball where there isn't any actual limit to how many runs you can score in a single inning.
About the switch up with the pitchers though, I love to see! The Jays had Seattle (maybe?) use a short-stop as their pitcher. The guy was actually pretty good too. He had a whole arsenal of throws, it was super impressive! The commentators actually mentioned how earlier in the season one of the teams had to put their pitcher back in play 'cause there's a rule apparently that you can't throw some random guy up to the mound unless there's a difference of at least five or six runs(?) or something.

idk I'm just getting into baseball finally after watching it causally since a few years back so I'm getting all excited, sorry;;

LOL that reminds me of when they slammed the Indians 17-1 and I was like, "Did the other team even show up??"
