What country are you from and what is your political affiliation?

Not looking for any in-depth views on political ideology or political debates. Just curious, especially about other countries. I'm from America and I'm registered as a democrat.

Canadian and whomever I vibe with their policies etc at the time. Last election I voted NDP. I still find it strange that you have to register your political affiliation in the US. Are you allowed to change your mind and change your registration?

American, unaffiliated. Started out slightly to the right but now I'm left of center and continue to drift in that direction, apparently.

i'm british and... i genuinely have no idea; the person i'm aware of who's best qualified to judge me said i was a pure centrist

(i don't vote in general elections because i've lived in seven constituencies and been alive for ten generals, and in all those seventy elections the seat has changed hands a combined total of THREE times - voting doesn't change shit. i voted to leave the eu at least partly because i thought it might change something, if that counts)

Canadian and left-leaning. I currently live in Scotland, though. When I vote remotely for Canadian elections, I typically favour Green or NDP. When I vote locally, SNP for days.

Germany and idek anymore other than not radical right wing or right conservative. Too many loud dumbasses and hypocrites in all parties that mess up shit for the sane party members and so many of them are incapable of addressing valid criticism without calling everyone who doesn't agree with them a Nazi.

Only the Canadian and Australian links work for me, but it's a quiz type thing that gauges you're placement compared to the local parties ideas and places you in a chart to show how you lean. It has a bunch of info on the parties direct stances for each issue too, if you're at all interest in that sort of thing!

Scotland (but English by birth) and currently a member of the SNP but sort of at the end of my tether with the whole "just wait, they're a broad church and will fracture after independence" thing because I feel like they're getting away with a LOT of crap.

Considering leaving the party and splitting my voting habits between them and the Scottish Greens.

When I was still in England I generally voted Lib Dem (yes, I got burned by 2010.)

UK, and voting is tricky. Thinking locally, I'd ideally vote for the person who actually works during the non-election period and effects real positive change for the area, but he's Conservative so... nope, and Labour always gets in anyway even though the current one is super racist and has done absolutely nothing for us, and her predecessor was dreadful too.

So when actually voting I go for whoever sounds least right-wing.

UK, and honestly I have a hard time wanting for vote for anyone in our shit-hole of a government because all the parties are self-interested jackasses. I still vote because I think it matters but every year I find it harder on who to give my vote too because I don't consider any of them to be decent candidates.

I wish we could fire every MP in the country and start from scratch tbh.

Non-franchise movies with multiple tv spin-offs?

I was thinking about how What We Do in the Shadows as a single movie spun off both its namesake tv series and Wellington Paranormal, and came up blank on any other movie doing the same. Anyone know any other examples?

(The Stargate and Buffy series seem different because the tv series spun off each other rather than off the movies themselves.)

So there's apparently now a second person who bullied me for being bi who's turning out to be queer themself. What the hell, people. You fuckers made me feel so bad about myself and like I was broken for not being straight, and now you're telling me you aren't either? GRRRRRRRRR.

I'm writing this here because I want to say it, but I'm too nervous / anxious to write it when someone's likely to read it!

I want to write fantasy books about terrible people with no happy moral or meaning. (TW: just horribleness, don't read!)

I want to write one about a noble woman who batters down some of the barriers society has built around her gender by being an absolute shit of a human being, who sinks into delusion as she tries to set up her life and the people around her as a story where she's the MC, only to be denied her preferred death (her favourite ornamental slave doesn't push her off the roof in a dramatic display of passionate hatred, instead the mob of commoners she's starved half to death tear her to pieces). (The commoners are also terrible btw, they abuse and hurt each other in their efforts to make themselves seem more important, and they are not kind to "pampered" slaves.)

I want to write about a boy who dresses as a girl to follow his true love (who he's never spoken a word to in his life) into a closed off finishing school where the rich send their daughters to a) learn how to be terrifying wives and family heads and b) have kind of the last year of their childhood safe from the pressure of expectation and duty. His presence threatens their reputations and risks them being considered unchaste, and although he learns to appreciate their skill and talent, and that daydreams are not love, but it's still a monumental cockup and the guy who was falling for the fake him (also the guy in charge of security) ends up murdering him to protect his position and that of the women he guards.

I want to write about a paladin for a god who is awful and abusive, who swings from violence to love bombing and she's fully aware and doesn't care as long as she's famous in the end. She fights for him even against a group that's figured out how to kill the gods who terrorize the human population and wins, condemning humanity to another who knows how many centuries of being under the divine thumb, and when he's seriously injured and near death, she performs a ritual where she tears out her heart as sacrifice to empower him and also as a fuck you because at least he'll remember her for eternity and she'll get her fame that way, only... oops. He's a god, he doesn't care, she was disposable.

But they're really horrible! If they caught any kind of attention it would be negative, and odds are a lot of people would be offended! :(
