You sound very superficial and lacking in a deeper understanding of the issue if you seriously think reason people are asking for representation because they "need their existence acknowledged." If a game has a large cast of characters and all of them have the same skin color, that's a symptom of a deeper problem (hint: it's racism! Whether conscious or not), and that is the issue.
