(Anonymous) 2022-07-30 04:46 am (UTC)(link)Tbh, I've never been able to understand it. I just sincerely don't get how people can ship something/be a fan of some gelatin-mould model in place of how a character/fandom acts in canon. I still maintain that if you wanna read/write reader fic, or self-inserts- just do it! Deal with the fact you're not gonna get/find as much traffic as something that takes canon into consideration, and don't try to lie about it and pretend you're writing canon characters when no characteristics are one in the same!
Like, I've seen so many people who interpret Zuko as immediately disregarding his father after his banishment and becoming some selfserving pirate with Iroh and the crew instead- and like that is /soo/ OOC especially when he's even given a redemption ark to work off off.
It grinds my gears regardless of the situation, but being the only other one who commits to canon in the face of the ease of the most immediate g-rated/code appropriate subversion has to be irritating as all hell. I hate it!!
