I am not from US and not from Italy, but our coffeeshops call "latte" most of steamed milk drinks. We have coffee latte (coffee with milk), tea latte (tea with milk and usually spices), bubble tea latte (milk and pearls) and so on. I think it's probably a good idea to ask with elaborate drinks like bubble tea if there is no description, they vary from place to place. At least for my country

I'm not going to start asking cafe baristas if their establishments' lattes are actually lattes--at least not unless I go abroad. However, I will definitely make a point of enquiring with any bubble tea places I go to in the future, before ordering anything being called a latte.

I would not, in a place that specialises in tea, expect a drink to have coffee in it as a matter of course.

Yeah this. Like, this is not a coffee shop, why would you, in a store that specialises in MILK TEA expect anything to be coffee unless explicitely stated.

Thirded. It's bubble TEA. To be fair, they don't even have tea in it often enough, but it never was coffee drink to start with
