It's okay - I like the show too and I still watch it. I try hard to ignore the bad treatment of Meg and focus on whatever funny there is.

My justification (to myself) is that the show makes fun of everyone, and Meg, I suppose, is their token "geeky high school kid who wants to be popular but fails miserably". Or something.

Aww, this makes me kind of sad that I did see it, because I'm a total Broadway newbie and I don't know any big name actors. D: She was an amazing Adelaide though, so I hope you can see it one day.

And I'm way too happy to see a Guys and Dolls secret here. |D

I'm a Katara/Zuko shipper, and you know what? This secret is the one that made my day instead of the other one.

Katara doesn't need to be Aang's girl to help Aang. Katara doesn't need to be Zuko's girl to help Zuko. Katara is her own girl, and she goes to help Zuko because he asked her and she wants to, remember? "It would be my pleasure" doesn't mean anything to you?

PS. Stop with the 'Aang's girl' thing. I sympathize with Katara/Aang shippers for being bashed by Zuko/Katara shippers with that blab- you are taking my sympathy down a big notch.

I've mostly left the SP fandom, but they're one of the pairings that still gives me warm fuzzies when I think about them ♥. Seriously, I can't count the times I've argued on behalf of the canon-complicity of Stan/Cartman. ;u; Haha. Look at me, getting all nostalgic.

I'm having a hard time taking this secret seriously. Maybe if Family Guy pretended to be anything but ridiculous, I might agree. As it were, it's just stupid comedy, slapstick humor, etc.

Ah, well, a friend on my f!List got me addicted just by linking the first episode. Turns out, her roommate (who is my friend and my BFF's little sister) got HER addicted... so, now we just have to convert the OTP...

But an adaptation needs to stand on its own terms. If something in the movie was hard to understand if you haven't read the book (I wouldn't know), then that's the fault of the movie. It absolutely isn't the fault of the moviegoers, because the movie needs to stand on its own merits.

I hear this said a lot, and I still feel it's not a basic truth but rather the constant defense of lazy critics. Yes, the movie needs to have a hook for the masses, to at least appeal to them as something cool and engaging. But a hook should suffice. When the source material's so huge, and your aim is to make a faithful adaptation, you'd only end up making something insultingly simplistic and boring if you explained everything on screen. The movie's better and more ambitious when it assumes that the viewers are, if not familiar with the source material, then at least perceptive enough to follow along despite their unfamiliarity, and inform themselves later.

I've not actually seen anyone get harassed for not having read the book, but if people do judge out of ignorance, I can see why they might be.

I don't know if it'll help but maybe you should look into the actor's biography and stuff? Take a breather and train yourself to recognize consciously and subconsciously that he's not the same guy. Even if you say it isn't a trigger or seriously serious it bothers me that you're still haunted by such an experience. This is probably really weird coming from a complete stranger but I feel for you and I sincerely hope that someday you'll be able to look at Peter Bishop's face and not think of that terrible thing.

That's okay, OP. It's not an uncommon dream. Of course, the actual work is pretty challenging, not to mention that the pay isn't all that glamorous, but it would be such an awesome career.

It is hard for a foreigner to enter the Japanese industry, though, but if you really truly want to pursue it, why not? Try for something in your home country, and work your way from there.

Now I want to know if we have mutual fandoms so I can be your friend!
