Be careful...I think I read a horror novel that started like this.

Did the OC character in the novel stalk the author's dreams then move into reality to stalk the author, and punish them for all the terrible things they put the OC through or made him do to other people, in their head??

I don't think so, but I can't remember enough to be sre.

What book is that? I've literally imagined that happening to me lol, but I don't read many horror novels so I don't think I read it anywhere.

It was a self-pubbed thing I found on Amazon, and I don't even recall the title. It was pretty forgettable overall, or maybe it just wasn't the book for me. I'd love to see what someone else could do with the concept.

I can relate to this around my writing process, because I often make OCs for imagining in my head, but no one wants to read OCs in fic in my fandoms. I do wish I could share them, but the main one is so twisted and mixed up I can't use them as inspiration for fic, it feels like I'd be, idk, betraying their essence or something? I can get very fixated by my characters, haunted even, so I think I get you OP.

I've had this exact experience OP. About a year ago I made an OC that essentially embodied the shitty parts of my mental health, and from there I've been tirelessly fleshing him into a full-on person. I write and draw him and think about him all the time.

Being so passionate about someone of your own creation is a special kind of reward.

Write anyway, nonnie! You don't have to share it, and it might be the basis for something else you do want to share one day, as fanfic or original work. I love fleshing out OCs even if I never publish them except in original works on AO3.

Oh, yeah; that lovely OC that just peeps out of holes and around corners, no matter what you're watching or reading because 'THEY WOULD SO FIT HERE!!!!'

Got one of those myself, and I would love to insert him into everything ever. Go on and write your OC, OP! Even if it's just for you/for fun and you never post it. Why not?

I would try him out everywhere. Put him in a bunch of different worlds, and then continue and post what you feel is the best success. You don't have to share everything you write. Try out some crazy ideas in your own personal drawer-fic and see what sticks.
