Agua fresca question

(Anonymous) 2022-08-06 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Can someone please explain how agua frescas are different to smoothies?

I actually used to work at a smooothie place so I can answer this: ingredients and consistency, mainly. Agua frescas are made out of fruit and water and are more liquid-y than a smoothie. Smoothies are generally made with a milk or yogurt base (although you can also make them out of just fruit and ice/frozen fruit) and ice and are thicker.

Basically, agua fresca is more like a juice while a smoothie is more like a shake!
