I don't know about that, anon. When I use the word, I use it to mean I've grown bored of something, or sick/tired of it, etc. Sometimes I use it as a way of saying that X media has overstayed its welcome as far as I care. It's pretty rare that I'll use the word in the way you're describing. I certainly don't think anyone who uses it is intolerable, good lord. The word is nowhere near as loaded as you want to think it is.
