I can't count how many times someone random will comment that they have a crush on a character, and someone else will say "Um she's 16????? ewlfhsldjf *string of barfing emojis*" and the OP will respond that they're also that age or younger. It's weird how everyone is assumed to be a teenager in fandom (since we know how shocked they act when they meet an actual adult there who isn't doing their taxes instead) up until someone expresses attraction to a kid character, and then the default turns into PEDO ADULT. And there will always be someone who responds again "That doesn't mean it's okay!" after they've said they're the same age as the character.

aargh, fuckin' THIS. I've also seen 16 year olds being called pedos for wanting to date 14 year olds, which is a totally normal age gap for teens. The world is insane.

nayrt

Agreed. Normally, I don't believe in shaming people just for a lack of knowledge, or for not knowing something as early as most others, but when their stupidity hurts others and they're somehow proud of that fact? I'm all for shaming that.
