This is one of those "I don't like [thing] either, but I'm not interested in agreeing with you when you're being such a dick about it" secrets.

lol yup

+2

Personally don't care one way or the other, and from someone who is far too lazy to do that kind of thing, I even think with moderation, it looks cool sometimes. OP is definitely full of themselves though.

OP's not being a dick. Don't listen to this OP, nice secret.

The pettiness of the secret is what I can't vibe with. And I understand why this is a secret, but it still doesn't stop OP from being a dick. Not interested in the fic but will stop to sus out the fic stats and writer account so they can judge the writer to feel better about themselves? =/ Sorry OP, I just don't vibe like that anymore. IMHO it makes general fandom shitty and why I personally don't fuck with ppl anymore. Ppl in fandom are SUPER petty and I'm so tired of it. I can't be arsed to put my snark hat on and hate on others, which apparently is a thing you have to do to make friends in the fandoms I find myself in.

still a good secret. I'm here for OP! You go, OP!

Bonding over hating characters and ships is much easier than finding friends when everybody love everything, js.

AYRT I get that. I think I'm around way too much negativity so I'm taking a break from most people. Wouldn't want to ruin your fun lol

ayrt
Positivity is more mainstream. Negativity is kinda niche in fandom. I rarely find people to bash chars and plots together but it's so so good when I do.
A matter of tastes and what you enjoy.

The second paragraph feels profoundly judgy in a way that feels unearned, as someone who once probably would have agreed with OP.

The fandom I currently engage with the most is being flooded with social media or epistolary fics hosted over Twitter threads, and I had doubts until I tried the most popular one. The format makes for some interesting and creative storytelling opportunities, especially if the writers go past the boundaries of social media to include handwritten letters or notes, formatted documents, or their own art. I don't like when actors' unrelated pictures are involved because it always feels weird to me to associate the personal lives of performers with the characters they play, but I otherwise get why that sort of storytelling is uniquely appealing.
